Bumper Covers & Bumper Parts in Dallas start at $118 at our counter, and the full range is published in the table below. A bumper cover is the painted plastic fascia that clips and bolts over the vehicle's energy absorber and reinforcement bar. A new cover, absorber and reinforcement bar puts the front of the car back where it belongs, usually for a fraction of the dealer quote.

Does an aftermarket bumper cover void my car's warranty?

An aftermarket bumper cover does not void a vehicle's factory warranty under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. A manufacturer has to prove the aftermarket part actually caused the failure it is refusing to cover, and a painted plastic fascia almost never does.

Can my insurer force me to use a specific bumper cover?

No. Texas Insurance Code Section 1952.301 bars an insurer from limiting coverage by specifying the brand, type, kind, age, vendor, supplier or condition of the parts used to repair your vehicle.

How much cheaper is an aftermarket bumper cover than the dealer part?

An aftermarket bumper cover typically runs 40 to 60 percent below the equivalent OEM part, with unpainted covers for common sedans starting near $118 and dealer covers for the same cars commonly landing between $400 and $1,500.

Before an adjuster tells you otherwise

Texas Insurance Code Section 1952.301 prohibits an insurer from limiting your coverage by specifying the brand, type, kind, age, vendor, supplier or condition of the parts used to repair your vehicle, and Section 1952.302 prohibits an adjuster from telling you that you must use a shop from a preferred list. The statute is public and it is short. Read the whole subchapter here, or read the section numbers back to whoever is on the phone. Working on the same corner of the car? Bumper Covers & Bumper Parts questions we get asked

What is the difference between a bumper cover and a bumper?

The bumper cover is the painted plastic skin; the bumper is the steel or aluminum reinforcement bar bolted to the frame rails behind it. A parking-lot tap usually damages only the cover.

Will a CAPA certified bumper cover fit better than a plain aftermarket one?

CAPA certified covers are tested against the car company part for material, fit and finish, and CAPA's own testing found six of seven non-certified metal body parts failed to match OEM yield and tensile strength.

Do I need the bumper absorber and brackets too?

Order the absorber and brackets whenever the impact pushed the cover in far enough to touch them. A reused cracked absorber is the single most common reason a fresh cover sits crooked.
