Fender creased down to the wheel arch, or a quarter panel folded in a lane change? Bolt-on fenders are a same-day swap. Quarter panels are welded, so we sell the full panel and the partial repair section and let the shop pick. A fender is the bolt-on panel over the front wheel; a quarter panel is the welded rear body section that wraps from the door to the tail light. Every price on this page came off our own Dallas stock list in August 2026.

Terms you will hear at this counter and on the phone: CAPA, Sherman, Goodmark, high-strength low-alloy steel, e-coat primer. If any of that is unfamiliar, ask, because getting the vocabulary right is half of ordering the correct part.
Six things worth knowing before you order
- Fenders arrive in e-coat primer, not paint. E-coat is a corrosion barrier, so scuff and seal it rather than shooting color straight over the top of it.
- The bolt holes on a budget fender are usually fine. What varies is the gap along the door edge, which is why we hang one against a straightedge before it goes in the box.
- Quarter panels come two ways: the full welded panel, or a repair section cut at the factory seam. The section is cheaper and faster if the damage stopped below the belt line.
- High-strength low-alloy steel does not take heat the way old mild steel did. Shrink it wrong and the panel loses the strength it was specified for.
- Aluminum fenders on newer trucks need isolating washers where they meet steel brackets, otherwise you have built a galvanic corrosion cell into a brand new panel.
- Fender liners get skipped to save thirty dollars and then the wiring harness behind them collects road salt and grit all winter.
- Fender-mounted turn signal and side marker cutouts differ between trim levels, and the cutout is stamped rather than cut, so the wrong one cannot be corrected.
- The bolt at the top rear of a fender is what sets the door gap, and loosening all of them before torquing any of them is the difference between a good fit and a visible step.
- Wheel arch mouldings and cladding leave clip holes in the fender. A bare fender for a clad trim level will have those holes; one for an unclad trim will not.
- Quarter panel repair sections are cut at the factory seam for a reason, which is that the seam is where the metal thickness changes and the weld is easiest to dress.
- Sail panels between the rear door and the quarter are frequently a separate stamping, and on a light rear impact that is often the only panel actually damaged.
- Inner fender aprons carry the strut tower load on unibody cars, so damage there is structural and belongs on a frame machine, not on a bench.

What pushes a panel to the top of the range: aluminum construction, a moulding or cladding line stamped into the panel, integrated antenna or fuel door cutouts, and anything on a body style that only ran two model years.
Can a quarter panel be replaced without welding?
No. A quarter panel is welded to the body shell at the factory, so replacing one means cutting the old panel out and welding the new panel or repair section in.
Is a repair section as strong as a full quarter panel?
A properly welded repair section is as strong as the full panel when the cut is made at a factory seam and the welds are dressed and sealed, and it costs far less in both part price and labor.
Why is my new fender grey instead of painted?
Aftermarket fenders ship in e-coat primer, a dipped corrosion coating applied at the factory. It is a surface to paint over, not a finished color.
Before an adjuster tells you otherwise
Texas Insurance Code Section 1952.301 prohibits an insurer from limiting your coverage by specifying the brand, type, kind, age, vendor, supplier or condition of the parts used to repair your vehicle, and Section 1952.302 prohibits an adjuster from telling you that you must use a shop from a preferred list. The statute is public and it is short. Read the whole subchapter here, or read the section numbers back to whoever is on the phone. Working on the same corner of the car? Fenders & Quarter Panels questions we get asked
Do aftermarket fenders rust faster than factory ones?
Aftermarket fenders rust faster when the e-coat is sanded through and never resealed, and CAPA testing found some non-certified panels use non-galvanized steel where the car company part is galvanized.
How much does a fender cost in Dallas?
An aftermarket steel fender for a common Dallas commuter sedan runs $62 to $130 unpainted at our counter, against $240 to $520 for the dealer part.
What is a rocker panel and when does it need replacing?
A rocker panel is the structural box section under the doors, and it needs replacing when rust or impact has perforated it, because it carries jacking and side-impact loads.
